S4.1 Interpret a wide range of graphs and diagrams and draw conclusions.


Candidates should be able to:

  • interpret any of the types of diagram listed in S3.2
  • obtain information from any of the types of diagram listed in S3.2

  1. From Example 1 in S3.2:
    Using your diagram or otherwise, comment on two differences between the data for boys and the data for girls.

    1. Work out the range of the number of drinks sold per day.
    2. Do you think the data is from the summer or winter?
      Give a reason for your answer.

  2. From Example 3 in S3.2:
    1. Use the stem-and-leaf diagram to find the modal number of passengers.
    2. There were five spare seats on the bus with most passengers.
      How many seats are in one of these buses?
